Class Options

Medium of Instruction
If you are new to Hindi, your classes will be conducted in English initially and then in time, Hindi. Beginner's sentences will be offered immediately to help familiarise you with the sounds and the rhythm of the language. These will constitute the base to your future studies.
Learning the Hindi alphabet - the Devanagari - is optional, though I highly recommend it to grasp certain pronunciations precisely, for which the Roman alphabet can often be inaccurate and even misleading. It is quite easy to learn and reinforces the learning material in unparalleled ways.
The Curriculum
The study schedule begins with the list of pronouns, verbs in the present tense and adjectives. Then lists of nouns of varying categories, complex verbs and adverbs are introduced. After the first four classes, you would be able to describe places, people, relationships and situations fairly easily. You will be able to distinguish the differences between English and Hindi grammars and feel encouraged to use Hindi exclusively for both thought and speech.
The future and the past tenses will be introduced next. At this juncture, you will also be able to give your opinions, explain causes of events and present theories and hypotheses.
You will practice conversation in real-life like making requests using the correct manner of speech (formal or informal), setting boundaries with someone, making purchases, all to the extent of understanding the everyday Hindi natives speak, and there's never an awkward moment for you.
Resources
Basic materials such as the chorus of Hindi songs, short poems, stories and pictures will be introduced right away. In time you will receive suggestions to watch recommended channels on YouTube and Instagram. Insights from these media can be analysed in class.
There will be abundant speaking practice in class itself and whenever you feel ready, you will be paired up with some of my other students to practice speaking Hindi with, using word or picture description, or role playing on a topic or theme.
